Advantages of the Geared Drives TM
Propeller Speed Reduction Unit

  • Geared Drive amplifies engine torque to the prop

  • Use offers superior climb rates and performance

  • Fully automatic centrifugal clutch dampens harmonics

  • Smooth and quiet operation

  • PSRU weighs only 63 lbs

  • Overall length from prop flange to rear flange is
only 10.25 inches, much shorter than chain or belt
    drive units

  • Works with constant speed prop, fixed pitch prop,
    or electric prop, your choice

  • Fits all Chevrolet engines from 1955 to present

  • Easy installation - bolts to the engine with six bolts

  • No surprise extras to purchase

  • Clutch allows initial engine start without the engine
pulling the inertia of the prop for easy starting with
    less strain on the starter

  • No side or thrust loads on the crankshaft since the
PSRU utilizes a splined input shaft same as an auto
    transmission

  • True geared PSRU and gear box with the dependability
necessary for safe and efficient aircraft operation

  • Gear ratios can be changed at minimal cost, allowing
    customized engine/propeller combinations

  • Shafts and propeller hubs are all one piece heat
treated stainless steel billet with a yield strength
of 195,000 lbs. per square inch with no tendency for
    cracking as with other materials

  • Gears are heat treated, undercut for light weight and
crown shaved for quiet operation, straight cut for
    maximum strength

  • Gear cases are heat-treated A356 aluminum o-ringed
on the parting surfaces and Heli-Coiled for safety

  • Roller bearings used throughout for heavy load handling

  • Works equally as well in tractor and pusher configurations

  • Oil pump, oil filter and oil supply independent of the engine

  • Has drive ports for mechanical fuel pump and prop governor

  • Works with either clockwise and counterclockwise turning
    prop governors

  • Can be fitted with a vacuum pump if desired

  • Use of this PSRU allows use of the prop as a speed brake

  • Accommodates high-output engines in excess of 400 hp

  • Adaptable to other makes of automobile engines at nominal cost
